Sports in America has always been a part of the culture that embodied the competitive spirit of men and women.  The first organized game of baseball was played by a partisan group of men looking for a leisurely  outlet that became an important segment of life. Long before the vast stadiums came into existence, the crude games were played in corn fields and on neighborhood streets of inner cities.  Every village, town or city had it's legendary players, too.  
In the black neighborhood of Atlanta, a dominate figure would play a major role in developing the organized game.  Benjamin
